Street turned into a river in the neighborhood of San Miguel del Padrón.

Leakage and garbage on Paula Street, Havana, create a breeding ground for pests. Neighbors report years of government neglect without a solution.

Paula Street, in the municipality of San Miguel del Padrón, Havana, became a river years ago due to the leaks it has, with the government showing no concern for the well-being of the residents of this community.

TikTok user Reinier Cruz (@reiniercruz88), who lives outside the island, recently posted a video highlighting the issues during a visit to Havana.

"Those who watch this video from abroad will wonder why the neighbors don't complain. Of course, they have complained thousands of times, but the government has never fixed those damn pipes," he commented.

This Havana neighborhood has been suffering for years from a serious drainage problem and possibly also from wastewater or contaminated water due to the amount of garbage it carries.

The street has become a hotspot for the proliferation of mosquitoes, rats, and other disease-carrying pests.

The situation, reported by neighbors for years, remains unanswered, just like the potholes, the houses at risk of collapse, and the accumulation of garbage in the corners.

Specifically, the garbage crisis in Cuba has been the subject of constant complaints from thousands of users on social media, who point out the government's lack of action to resolve the situation.

Life in the Cuban capital has become unsustainable in many neighborhoods due to the increasing unsanitary conditions and the deterioration of urban infrastructure.
