A 92-year-old Cuban faces charges after allegedly inappropriately touching a 15-year-old neighbor last Friday in an apartment building in Miami.
The elderly man -identified as Roberto Gutiérrez- was arrested on Saturday and charged with lewd behavior against a 16-year-old minor, according to local press citing the arrest report from the Miami Police Department.
The incident occurred specifically in an area that spans neighborhoods of Liberty City and Little River, although the exact address was omitted from the police report for privacy reasons.
According to the authorities, the minor stated that around 4:20 p.m. on October 4, Gutiérrez was watching him as he entered his apartment.
He recounts that shortly after, the elderly man knocked on his door, and he opened it thinking it was his father. According to the report, Gutiérrez used his walker to push the door and enter the victim's apartment.
Once inside, the man allegedly "touched the young man on the left shoulder and arm while telling him he was beautiful, which caused the victim to freeze," the police detailed.
The authorities indicated that Gutiérrez went to the living room and asked the boy to sit on the sofa, to which he refused, claiming—in an attempt to get him to leave—that he had to go to soccer practice.
The minor indicated that while Gutiérrez was between the front door and the hallway, he tried to kiss him on the lips by leaning in, however, the victim stepped back to avoid the kiss and then pushed the door to get him out of the apartment.
According to the authorities, Roberto Gutiérrez later told detectives that he went to the victim's apartment that day to ask about someone. He admitted to having "touched the victim on the arm," but denied having told him he was handsome or having tried to kiss him.
The elderly man was arrested and taken to the Metro West Detention Center. He was given a bond of $2,500. As of the closing of this report, he is no longer listed in the county jail records.
