Due to the worsening weather conditions, the ferry service from Regla has been temporarily suspended since this Saturday, as reported by the Provincial Transport Company of Havana.
A statement from the state entity indicated that due to the "deterioration of the current weather conditions and their impact on navigation at this time in the Bay of Havana," it was decided to halt the service starting at 5:40 PM on Saturday, November 2, "until the weather permits its restoration."
The company urged the public to use bus transportation while the ferry service remains suspended, one of the oldest means of passenger transport in the Cuban capital.
Last Thursday, the boat was also temporarily taken out of service due to "the strength of the winds in the Bay of Havana." The service was resumed the following day.
At the beginning of the month, that mode of transportation was also out of service for two days due to the weather effects associated with Hurricane Milton as it passed near the western part of the country.
In the past two years, the boat transportation service in Havana Bay has experienced frequent interruptions, mainly due to technical malfunctions, maintenance issues, cleanliness in the bay, and even the risk of collapse at the dock in the municipality of Regla.
These issues have affected passengers who regularly use this means of transportation between the areas of Regla, Casablanca, and Old Havana.
