The renowned Cuban comedian Ulises Toirac expressed on Thursday that he is tired of the insults he has received on his Facebook profile, announcing changes to the configuration of his posts to limit comments.
"I have decided that only my 'friends' can comment on my posts. I'm fed up with insults on my own profile," Toirac wrote on his Facebook account.
The comedian, known for his ironic and laid-back style on social media, as well as for reflecting on social issues, explained that he tends to be respectful when commenting on others' profiles.
“If I have opposing views, I keep them to myself because it's not my place. In my space, it didn’t seem to be the same, so peace on my profile, heavenly harmony,” he added.
In his message, Toirac also expressed regret that this decision affects those who are "good-natured," but noted that it is not worth "fighting on social media when the struggle in the streets is already causing the pressure to destabilize," referring to the stress and tensions that are already part of everyday life.
Regarding social media, the comedian recently questioned the attitude of many Cubans in light of recent events that have stirred public opinion, such as the assault on reggaeton artist El Taiger in Miami.
Ulises confessed on his Facebook wall that what he reads on social media feels alien to him: a cold world, lacking soul and discernment, simplistic and dehumanized.
