Amid strong rumors about his death, the manager of Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar, known artistically as El Taiger, confirmed that the musician is still fighting for his life at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami after being shot in the head on October 3rd.
"El Taiger is medically alive," said the artist's legal team in the report at 6:00 PM.
"The situation is very complex, very delicate, as we still do not have clarity about what happened," explained his representative, who added that the musician's family remains in Cuba, waiting for a humanitarian visa.
It explains that the hospital cannot provide information to anyone who is not a close family member, so the presence of a family member in the country is urgent.
"The situation is serious and although we hold a small hope, we are also preparing for any eventuality," he said at the end of his message.
For several days, the artist's condition had shocked the Cuban musical community and his followers around the world, who have closely followed his progress since he was hospitalized in critical condition last Thursday.
It also took the headlines of various media in Cuba, the United States, and Spain, where its song La Historia was the song of two consecutive summers.
El Taiger, for many the most important reggaeton singer of his generation in Cuba, is currently hospitalized at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where his health condition is critical after being shot in part of the brain.
On October 7, the Miami police had offered a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the capture of Damián Valdez-Galloso, alias "El Narra," the main suspect in the attack against El Taiger.
According to the police, there is evidence that rules out the theory of a suicide attempt and points to Valdez-Galloso, who has a criminal record, as a key person of interest in the investigation. He is currently a fugitive.
