Tragedy in Florida: Cuban grandmother recounts how her husband lost his life in tornadoes preceding Hurricane Milton.

A Cuban widow in Florida recounts how a tornado destroyed her home and claimed the lives of her husband and other neighbors in a trailer park.

A Cuban grandmother, resident in Florida, shared her pain after the death of her husband during the passage of several tornadoes through areas of central and southern Florida this Wednesday.

In statements to Univisión Noticias, the widow explained that, in addition to her husband, several neighbors also died due to the violent weather phenomenon, which completely destroyed a trailer park where the victim was staying.

The family had tried to convince the man to leave the trailer park and seek shelter in a safer area, but he chose to stay, because the news indicated that Hurricane Milton would not strongly impact his area.

However, the rapid formation of several tornadoes in central and southern Florida on Wednesday surprised residents, causing tragedy, especially in St. Lucie County, where at least six people died as a result.

A grandson of the victim, upon learning of the tornado warning in the area, rushed to the road in hopes of rescuing his grandfather. Upon arrival, just an hour after speaking with the elderly man for the last time, he found the place devastated and with a heavy police cordon.

The authorities immediately arrived to rescue the injured and identify the bodies. The young man explained that he was looking for his grandfather, and the police accompanied him to the bodies of the deceased. There he found his loved one.

The man who had raised him, the grandfather whom he affectionately called "papi," had a tattoo of the Cuban flag on his chest. The grandson could barely say goodbye to him. He had to return home with a broken heart. The family is waiting for the protocols for these cases of death to be followed, in order to then hold the funeral.

The tornadoes, associated with the passage of Hurricane Milton, left a tragic toll in several areas of Florida, with multiple casualties and severe material damage.

Authorities continue rescue and assistance efforts for those affected, while survivors face the aftermath of the disaster.

The tornado left a scene of devastation, sweeping away trailers, trees, and even a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that belonged to the elderly man. The widow explained that the motorcycle was twisted from the many blows it received.

The old man's dogs had been missing, and they were presumed dead, but the authorities found them alive, according to the woman in her testimony. The grandson is in charge of the pets.
