The Cuban duo Gente de Zona mourned the death of reggaeton artist José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar (El Taiger), who passed away at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami after spending a week in critical condition due to a gunshot wound to the head.

Alexander Delgado and Randy Malcom shared a message on the group's Instagram profile, where they express that they are very shocked and saddened by the tragic death of the singer.

"When the artist who provided the soundtrack to the lives of many physically departs, he leaves behind a sadness that few will be able to understand," they said.

"Very shaken and saddened by your departure, José Manuel. Our moment of disbelief turns into denial. 'Now who will give voice to your rhymes, your music, your thoughts, and your feelings?' they asked."

"You carry with you a lot of music still to be listened to, rhymes to write, a world of dreams, desires, and possibilities. You carry a future of what could have been and will not be, you carry our desire to continue listening to your music," the message adds.

"How much you will be missed by the genre, José, but even when fighting until the end, you decided to leave, your musical legacy will remain forever," they assured.

"All our prayers with your family, friends, and colleagues," the post concluded.

El Taiger, 36 years old, was declared dead this afternoon. "He has now reunited with his beloved mother in heaven," stated an official announcement published on his Instagram page.

Alexander and Randy had already expressed their deep sorrow on their social media after the official confirmation of El Taiger's death.

"In shock and with a broken heart hearing the news since last Thursday until today," Alexander wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of both smiling.

"Everyone needs a second chance, this wasn't the way for a warrior like you to go, but as your rhymes said, you are 'A Fighter' and you fought until the end. (...) We are not God to judge anyone. I will hold on to the memory of José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar that I met 20 years ago," he added.

For his part, Randy expressed his disbelief: "I still can't believe it... José, your music will continue to play on every corner."

Gente de Zona joins the grief of many other artists who have shared beautiful messages of condolence.
