The tragic death of the Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, known artistically as El Taiger, has generated a strong impact in the international press, with major outlets reporting his passing.

Billboard, BBC Mundo, El País, People en Español, El Nuevo Herald, Hola, and Diario Las Américas have reported on the incident, highlighting not only his musical career but also the context of violence that ended his prominent and rising artistic career.

La Opinión, Tv Azteca, Sports, Milenio, among many other digital sites, published about El Taiger, one of the most influential exponents of the urban genre in Cuba, who has gained a large number of followers thanks to his music filled with catchy rhythms and lyrics.

In their lines, they highlight the impact of the event on the Cuban community, both inside and outside the island, where their music was widely consumed.

From the Cuban government, which normally remains silent about similar events when it involves artists in exile, they did not hold back regarding the incident that has moved the entire community. The former Minister of Culture, Abel Prieto Jiménez, stated, upon learning of the seriousness of his situation, that “all Cubans” wished for his recovery. Likewise, Lis Cuesta, wife of President Miguel Díaz-Canel, wished the singer a speedy recovery and wrote that “the Cuban nation is one, even though hate seeks to divide it,” published the Spanish media El País.

Billboard, for example, stated that "it contacted the Miami Police Department for an update on the investigation, but received no response by the time of this publication."

And the circumstances surrounding his death have not yet been clarified, which has generated increasing media interest in the investigations.

In the same way, they highlighted the shock among Cuban artists and public figures, who have flooded social media with messages of mourning and tribute to his legacy.

Without a doubt, the death of El Taiger, who was shot in the head a week ago in the city of Miami, Florida, has left a void in urban music, but his legacy will continue to live on in dancefloors and in the hearts of those who found in his songs a voice that reflected their reality.
