A criminal was caught and held by neighbors in the Dolores neighborhood, in San Miguel del Padrón, Havana, after the individual threatened a minor with a knife to rob him.

Although the thief managed to snatch a backpack from the victim that contained a cell phone and then ran off, numerous witnesses followed him until they managed to capture him, according to the official Facebook profile El Cubano Fiel.

After being intercepted, the man -whose identity was not revealed- was held by the neighbors, who called the police.

“They also report that after the call made to 106 by local residents, police patrol 143 arrived and took the criminal into custody for the 11th precinct,” concluded the official source.

It is not the first time in recent months that even minors have been victims of street robberies in Cuba, amid the rising increase in criminal acts of all kinds across the island.

In the comments section of the post, several internet users celebrated the resolution of the incident and hoped that the individual would truly pay for his crime and not be released within a matter of hours.
