The singer and former member of the popular band One Direction, Liam Payne, passed away this Wednesday after falling from the balcony of the Casa Sur hotel where he was staying in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
According to initial reports, the incident was alerted by hotel employees and nearby residents, who immediately notified the authorities, and the police confirmed the person's death at the scene, reported Infocielo.
Alberto Crescenti, head of the Emergency Medical Attention System (SAME), informed the news portal that "a team from SAME confirmed the death of this man. Then we learned that he was a famous singer. Unfortunately, he had injuries incompatible with life as a result of his fall. There was no possibility of resuscitation or anything."
Crescenti explained that a free fall without any kind of cushioning is fatal, and although the paramedics arrived at the scene in just seven minutes, they could not save him.
According to Infocielo, this Wednesday several fans of the British band One Direction approached the hotel to take photos and record videos with their idol, Liam Payne.
However, for reasons that are still under investigation, hotel employees alerted 911 due to the singer's "rage-fueled behavior."
Shortly after, witnesses saw Liam Payne fall from the balcony of his room, located on the third floor, into an internal courtyard.
Currently, investigations are being carried out at the hotel, and although there has not yet been an official statement, it is unknown what will happen with Niall Horan's concert.
Payne was expected to attend the concert of his former bandmate and former One Direction member, Horan, who was scheduled to perform at the Movistar Arena that night.
At 31 years old, the singer was in Argentina working on his solo career. Since leaving the British band, he released an album and was in the midst of producing his second record.
Between 2010 and 2016, One Direction established itself as the most successful band worldwide, primarily driven by the intense passion and fanaticism of teenagers.
Among their greatest successes are songs like "Night Changes," "Story Of My Life," and "What Makes You Beautiful."
