Cuban in Florida confesses that her salary is not enough: "How do people with less work than me afford luxuries?"

Bárbara, a Cuban resident in Florida, shared on TikTok her frustration about being unable to cover her expenses despite working 38 hours a week.

Bárbara, a Cuban residing in Cape Coral, Florida, known on TikTok as Bárbara de la Cape Coral, has used her social media to share one of her biggest concerns: her salary does not suffice to cover all her expenses, despite working 38 hours a week.

In a video posted on her TikTok account @babyladecapecoral, Bárbara expresses her frustration upon seeing that while she can barely meet her basic needs, there are people who, with less effort, seem to indulge in luxuries and enjoy a more comfortable life.

"I never have money and I don’t even go out, I never go to parties," she comments in the video. Bárbara wonders how it is possible that others, who work fewer hours than she does, can afford to go out partying constantly and buy things that she cannot.

"Now I want them to explain to me where people who don't work 38 hours a week get so much money, while they go out partying all the time and indulge in a lot of luxuries. Where do they get the money? I want them to tell me!" she added in a tone of disbelief and frustration.

The video has sparked a debate among TikTok users, many of whom identify with Bárbara's situation and ask themselves the same question amid the current economic crisis in the United States, where the high cost of living continues to affect thousands of working families.

"I also ask myself the same thing," "That's right, it happens to me too," and "Mom, I work 55 hours a week, Jesus Christ, I have no life, I just spend all my time working," are some of the comments that can be read on her post.

The reality of many Cuban immigrants in Florida is not easy, and Bárbara's case reflects the difficulties they face in trying to achieve the "American dream," working long hours without being able to enjoy the benefits that, at first glance, others seem to have without much effort.
