In the last 48 hours, the weather stations in Guantánamo recorded significant rainfall accumulations, a phenomenon associated with the passage of Hurricane Oscar, which also left seven dead in that territory.

According to a note posted on X by the Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology (Insmet), a total of 630.2 mm was recorded in the Caujerí Valley, the highest volume of precipitation reported in the province during this time of year.

Other significant recordings include Punta Maisí, with 436.4 mm; Jamal, with 223.5 mm; and Palenque de Yateras, with 103.0 mm.

These accumulations correspond to the period between 8:00 a.m. on October 20 – when Oscar hit the easternmost province of Cuba – and 8:00 a.m. on October 22, detailed Insmet.

In the eastern region of Cuba, there are still cloudy skies, and some showers, rain, and isolated thunderstorms are reported.

Likewise, municipalities such as Imías and San Antonio Sur, where seven deaths were reported due to the flooding caused by the hurricane, remain cut off from communication.
