Cuban mother in the United States defends working from home: 'There is no rest or days off'

A Cuban woman in the United States has defended working from home in a TikTok video, expressing her outrage when someone says that being at home is the same as doing nothing.

"Every time I hear someone say that being at home is doing nothing, I swear it makes my blood boil," she says in her video, where she shares parts of her daily tasks. For the Cuban, who identifies as @lil_liet on TikTok, those who think this way have not experienced a full day dealing with the multiple responsibilities of the household: organizing, cleaning, cooking, and managing other obligations that constantly arise.

"Being at home is the most constant and exhausting job there is, and also the worst paid. There are no days off or rest," she asserts. The woman describes how, upon waking up, she is immediately faced with an endless list of tasks: picking up clothes, washing dishes, and just when it seems she has finished, more chores arise.

For those who are mothers, the challenge intensifies. "There, the work triples. It's like juggling," she states, referring to the burden of entertaining the children, preparing their meals, and cleaning up the mess they leave behind. "And just when you think you're done, they need something else," she adds.

With conviction, she invites those who underestimate her work to spend a day in her shoes to truly understand what it entails. "Being at home is the heaviest job, one that never ends, and although it may not be visible, it requires a complete commitment every day," concludes the Cuban, who has gained support from more users.
