Cuban outfielder Yasiel Puig, known as the "Wild Horse," announced that he is withdrawing from the current winter season with the La Guaira Sharks in Venezuelan baseball due to a contract proposal for 2025.

Through his Instagram account, Puig expressed his gratitude to the fans: “With deep admiration and love for the fans of La Guaira and all of Venezuela, I say from the bottom of my heart how thankful I am for your support and acceptance of this humble crazy person who just came to want to bring the best of sports,” he wrote.

The gardener, a former Major League Baseball (MLB) star, explained that his decision to leave the season was prompted by a request from his new team, which asked him to step away from the field this winter to prepare for his new contract.

Although he did not specify whether the agreement will be in MLB, Mexico, or Asia, the player from the province of Cienfuegos emphasized that it is a difficult but necessary decision at this stage of his career.

It is worth noting that the Cuban player was a key figure in the La Guaira championship during the 2023-24 season and in the conquest of the Caribbean Series.

However, he made it clear that this departure is not a definitive goodbye and that his wish is to return to Venezuela to continue supporting the Tiburones in their quest for a new title.

After the news broke, one question lingers: Will he return to the Major League system?
