The Cuban comedian Luis Silva shared a humorous sketch in which he simulates a phone conversation with Hurricane Rafael, advising it that the best course of action at this time is not to travel to Cuba.
Silva uses his unique humor to simulate a dialogue with the cyclone. He reminds Rafael that the issues arising from such weather phenomena are already on the rise on the island, even though the hurricane has not made landfall.
Twenty-hour blackouts, garbage accumulation, food shortages, and the collapse of public services are part of daily life for Cubans. However, Silva warns that these circumstances could soon be blamed on Cyclone Rafael.
"They're going to blame you for everything. I know what I'm talking about. Stay away. Don’t get yourself into trouble by coming through here, just look at how rough the sea is," said the comedian.
Population inHavanaexpresses concern over Hurricane Rafael
The Havana government said on Sunday that they were preparing to face a Category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. However, the reality is that the streets remain littered with trash, power outages are extended, and there is no food available to cope with the situation.
Nothing has changed. The preparation of the capital is not evident. Many people claim that Havana is not ready to face the torrential rains, strong winds, and potential flooding that lie ahead.
Luis Silva's humor sketch about Hurricane Rafael is filled with harsh truths and fears that Cubans across the island face. Despite everything, they put on their best face, holding on to what little optimism remains, to welcome what is coming.
