Argentina's president, Javier Milei, revived a controversial televised clash he had some time ago with journalist Natasha Niebieskikwiat, known for her defense of the Cuban regime.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Milei recalled his intervention in that debate, labeling the journalist as a "communist who lives off lies" and who "works for the impoverishing left-progressivism."
In the video shared by the current leader, one can see the exact moment when the then-presidential candidate confronts Niebieskikwiat, who, during the discussion, defended the Cuban socialist system, arguing that, despite its shortcomings, "Cuba had effectively managed to solve the problem of poverty."
Milei, in response to the host born in Cuba, strongly questioned that argument and asserted that socialism and "soft-hearted" individuals like her were responsible for creating poverty.
"Of course, it made everyone poor," Milei said in his speech, where he also compared Cuba to Japan, a nation that, despite being an island, had achieved impressive economic development.
"Look at Japan, it’s just a little island of stone, and look at what they've accomplished," he exclaimed, pointing out the differences between the Cuban socialist system and Japanese capitalism.
In a tense moment of the exchange, Milei surprised the journalist with a provocative proposal: "Go back to Cuba," he said, adding, "I offer you a one-way ticket with no return."
The debate went viral at the time, and today Milei revived it, recommending his followers to seek out "the full version of the exchange; it's even funnier."
He added that the confrontation with the journalist was a key moment in his campaign and in the fight against what he considers a destructive political system.
In his comments, Milei also stated that before the communist revolution, Cuba was one of the richest countries in Latin America, and that socialism, just like other progressive systems, had only led the island into poverty.
