"Only God knows that I am wealthy, and I'm not talking about money." With these words, Roxi Lopez, a Cuban living in the United States, begins a video in which she is seen packing boxes to send to her family on the island.
In the post she shared on TikTok, @roxanalopez7242 explained that, while many see Cuba as an expense, for her it is a commitment filled with love and effort.
"I know there are people who see Cuba as an expense, but not for me. For me, it is something special, something I have always dreamed of: helping my family. Even if I can't give equally to everyone, I always try to ensure that something reaches them—every month, every little bit, every package of coffee," he expressed.
Roxi confessed that these shipments are her way of staying connected with her family, despite the distance. “For many, it may be little; for others, it may be very inexpensive, but for me, it is too much. God knows the love and affection with which I do this, and how I strive every day to give them everything within my reach.”
Her words resonated deeply with her audience, especially among other emigrants who understand what it means to support their loved ones in Cuba. In the comments section of the video, many users quickly expressed their solidarity with her. “I see you, and I see myself; there’s no greater satisfaction than being able to send something to our people”; “I’m in tears; I do the same as you. Each package carries so much sacrifice, but also love”; “Many don’t understand, but helping family in Cuba fills my heart.”
Roxi's video not only touched hearts with its sincerity but also because it portrays a reality shared by many Cubans abroad: the commitment and joy of being able to help those who suffer so much on the island.
