The 53 adults are located at the Manuel Ascunce Domenech Clinical Surgical Hospital

The tragic accident occurred on the road to the municipality of Florida after 7:00 pm, when two Yutong buses collided on the West Ring Road of Camagüey, near the boarding point on the road to the west.

One was a Transmetro operated under a leasing system that ran from Songo La Maya, Santiago de Cuba, and the other transported workers from a Military Construction Unit.

A source close to the location commented to independent journalist José Luis Tan Estrada that the cause may have been one of the drivers' unfamiliarity with the area, who ignored a stop sign while attempting to merge onto the Carretera Central.

"This place is very dark, like all the points along the city's ring road," he assured.

In light of the magnitude of the accident, health authorities in the province have made a call for solidarity.

Carlos Morán Giraldo, the general director of Health in the area, announced that those wishing to donate blood can do so starting at 7:00 AM this Saturday at the Provincial Blood Bank.
