Witnesses at the scene report that the accident occurred in a steep area, where the combination of speed and road conditions may have contributed to the collision. Despite the impact, the drivers and passengers of both vehicles were unhurt.

This accident adds to a series of traffic incidents with similar characteristics that have occurred in the Cuban capital.

In April, a modern truck collided with a classic car in Vedado, an incident that raised concerns among the residents of Havana about the dangers of certain intersections.

Similarly, in August 2023, another accident in the Cuban capital , including that of a pregnant woman. The almendrón involved in the fatal accident was of a model and color very similar to that of the one that crashed this Monday.

More recently, at the end of May, a driver suffered minor injuries to the head after the almendrón he was operating collided with a modern car in the neighborhood of El Vedado, Havana.

The high number of older vehicles on the road, combined with the deteriorating condition of the roads and the failure to adhere to traffic regulations, are factors that continue to contribute to the high accident rate in the city.
