Cubans pay tribute with artificial intelligence to deceased drivers in Ciego de Ávila

The video's creator, who is also a driver, crafted a moment of embrace between his two colleagues. "How many times did they not come face to face? They knew that road in detail, but fate played a cruel trick on them."

A Cuban has created a unique and heartfelt tribute using artificial intelligence for the drivers who tragically lost their lives on Monday in a traffic accident that occurred on the road connecting Morón to Turiguanó, in Ciego de Ávila, where seven people died.

In the video, Yuniester Oliva Artiles and Yohelvis Reino Veitía, the drivers of the two buses involved, are seen greeting each other and embracing warmly.

The author of the material is Ramsel Álvarez, a bus driver in Havana, who confessed that due to his profession, the news of the incident saddened him greatly, and he chose this way to send his condolences to the affected families.

"I did it as a tribute because they are from the same province and are out on the street every day; how many times did they not cross paths? They knew that road in detail, but fate played a trick on them. In the embrace (what is not heard), they greet each other with respect," he commented in the group on Facebook "ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES for more experience and fewer victims!".

"The one who saw the actual photos of the accident, they were side by side and what better tribute than that embrace," he pointed out.

Pedro Domínguez, the group moderator, stated that the video moved him deeply. "Working in similar destinations, and being both bus drivers, I have no doubt that in life they embraced each other hundreds of times like this. Rest in peace to both, it's so sad that life pitted these two brothers and colleagues against each other," he said.

In another post, Eridan González Velázquez, a doctor at the Morón hospital, confirmed that the two drivers were good friends. "They had that fatal outcome, very sad, to be honest. It's also very sad to know that other people died and many have been injured. A true tragedy."

In the early hours of Monday, two buses carrying workers from Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo collided on the road in Cayo Coco, Ciego de Ávila, under what appeared to be low visibility conditions due to fog covering the area.

The official investigation confirmed that the accident was the responsibility of the Yutong bus driver coming from the main municipality. Captain Norge Pérez Fraga, the second chief of Police Instruction in the province, stated that this vehicle "interfered in the path of the Transmetro, which was traveling in the opposite direction, amidst severe fog that obstructed visibility."

The images shared on social media show that one of the buses was completely wrecked at the front, while the other sustained significant damage.

The accident initially resulted in six fatalities (four at the scene and two at the hospital) and 59 injured. In recent hours, the toll has increased to seven due to the death of a 34-year-old worker from the Playa Coco hotel.

After the incident, many people went to the blood bank to donate in response to the authorities' call.
