An update on Facebook from the provincial government indicates that those affected, aged between 15 and 18 years, were taken to the Eliseo Noel Caamaño Provincial Children's Hospital, where they remain stable.

Of the 22 patients, 12 are in the Respiratory Room, 4 in Intermediate Therapy, and 6 in Observation, with no reports of danger to their lives.

The incident occurred this Friday on the second floor of the school, where several students began to feel dizzy, experienced difficulty breathing, and showed signs of flushing after noticing a strong smell of gas.

In response to the emergency, the school was evacuated and the affected students received immediate care.

According to the state-run newspaper Girón, at least seven students were initially admitted to the hospital.

Local authorities, including the Communist Party of Cuba, the Government, Provincial Education, and the Ministry of the Interior, have deployed a commission to investigate the causes of the gas leak, although testimonies from students suggest that the smell may have been caused by a substance similar to acrylic, which spread rapidly throughout the building.
