This Tuesday, the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC), which many believe is doomed to disappear, unexpectedly rises in the Cuban informal market and reaches 245 CUP, five pesos more than the price it had since January 13, almost a month ago.
The Cuban government has denied that the MLC (Moneda Libremente Convertibles) stores are set to disappear, but the reality is that the plan for the upcoming opening of 50 new stores across the country, announced recently by the Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, excludes MLC cards and focuses on sales in foreign currency, either in cash or through Visa, Mastercard, or the Clásica card, the latter issued by the Cuban government.
In the case of the dollar, it remains pegged today in Cuba at 340 pesos, and it has now stabilized at that value for four weeks.
The euro, after two consecutive days of increases, remains valued at 345 CUP on this 11th of February.
