Rojitas clarifies whether he would record a collaboration: "I have a lot of respect for Rojitas, the artist I created myself."

"I would gladly collaborate with Gente de Zona," he said in the interview where, despite acknowledging that the group was not "his artistic platform," he did not hesitate to congratulate the artists who are achieving international recognition.

The renowned Cuban singer Rojitas (José Luis Rojas) shared his thoughts on the reparto genre during an interview on the podcast Destino Tolk. While he made it clear that he respects the artists in the genre and acknowledges their success, he stated that he does not envision himself performing that type of music.

During the conversation, Rojitas was asked if he would be willing to record a collaboration, to which he candidly replied: "Honestly, I don't know, but I'm leaning more towards no than yes. I have absolutely nothing against these guys; I congratulate them because they have made a name for themselves and achieved success. They are even managing to internationalize their proposal, and I'm happy for them. However, it's not mine, it's not my vision, it's not my artistic balcony," the singer stated.

He added that his focus remains on salsa and traditional Cuban music, emphasizing that he prefers to stay true to his style. However, he did not rule out collaborating with other Cuban artists, specifically mentioning Gente de Zona.

Rojitas' statements generated various reactions on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where fragments of the interview were posted. Many users supported his stance, highlighting his career and talent.

"Rojitas is an artist of true talent and true voice. He has nothing to envy from any of these 'reparteros'," commented a user.

Another internet user expressed: "This man knows how to sing and speaks with precision. He respects the work of others but maintains his essence."

On the other hand, there were also those who criticized his stance, pointing out that reggaeton is currently the most popular genre in Cuba. "No one listens to that," wrote one user in disagreement.

Rojitas, known for his time with the Adalberto Álvarez orchestra and his solo career, has been one of the most prominent voices in Cuban music in recent decades. His statement comes at a time when the genre has gained significant popularity on the island and among young audiences, overshadowing other genres such as salsa and son in terms of media reach.

Over the years, several Cuban artists have been questioned about their stance on reggaeton, a genre that divides opinions within the music industry. While some see it as an authentic expression of the streets, others criticize its lyrics and vocal quality.

Below is the full interview where Rojita discussed many topics, including the experience of five years with Adalberto, the figure of her father, among others.
