Young man fulfilling military service is murdered in Havana

A 19-year-old man who was undergoing military service in Havana was killed by a group of gang members in Managua, Arroyo Naranjo, allegedly to steal his cellphone.

According to sources close to the case, the motive for the crime was the theft of the victim's mobile phone and clothing. The victim was identified as Miguel Ángel and was originally from Chaparra, in the municipality of Jesús Menéndez.

The sister of the young man who was murdered, Yaleni Gallego, confirmed the news on Facebook: "Rest in peace, my little brother. The farewell we gave you was too little for what you deserved. We love you so much and will miss you, taken away at just 19 years old. God wanted to take you with him. No matter how much justice is served, no one can give you your life back. We love you, my tt," she posted.

According to social media posts, Miguel Ángel "was stabbed to death," stated one of the posts.

An uncle of the young man stated that the suspects in the crime are already under investigation.

Several neighbors from Chaparra stated on social media that he was a humble and well-educated young man, known for his kind and respectful demeanor towards the residents.

The tragedy has been so shocking that several community members and former teachers of the young man have expressed their sadness and are demanding justice. "It's unbelievable what this country has become," wrote a neighbor.

"A child who didn’t even speak, only greeted the neighbors, and now he is no longer with us. Peace to his soul," he added.

"What great pain we are witnessing today, my condolences to Dunia and Dania and the entire family. I can only hope that justice is served against those criminals who roam the streets causing pain and harm to many people," said another.
