Family and friends are preparing funeral honors to bid farewell to Paulito FG in Havana

The music community and the fans of Paulo Fernández Gallo, artistically known as Paulito FG, are preparing to bid farewell to the renowned Cuban salsa artist, who passed away this Saturday in a tragic traffic accident on the Malecón in Havana.

According to a post on the official Instagram account of the artist, the funeral services will take place this Sunday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home on Calzada and K, in Havana. His family and loved ones have invited all his followers and the general public to attend to pay tribute to the legendary performer.

"This Sunday at 11 am, we will be bidding a fond farewell to the great Paulito FG at the Calzada y K funeral home. All his followers and the general public who wish to pay their respects are welcome," the artist's account stated in a story.

A tragic accident on the Havana seawall

The passing of Paulito FG has caused great shock in the artistic community and among his fans. The accident occurred at the intersection of 12 and Malecón, when the vehicle in which the artist was traveling was struck by a tour bus. Although he was taken to Calixto García Hospital, he arrived in cardiac arrest and could not be revived.

Since the moment the news was confirmed, social media has been flooded with condolence messages from musicians, friends, and fans.

Paulito FG was one of the most influential voices in dance music in Cuba. Throughout his career, he made a mark in iconic groups such as Adalberto Álvarez y su Son, Opus 13, and Dan Den, eventually founding his own band, La Élite, in 1992.

With his charisma and innovative style, he fused salsa with other genres and left behind classics such as "El bueno soy yo," "Te deseo suerte," "Con la conciencia tranquila," and "Ilusión." His music transcended borders, reaching over 20 countries and becoming a reference for several generations.
