A Cuban who had arrived in the United States with parole was arrested this Saturday for transporting undocumented migrants, according to official information from U.S. authorities.

According to reported by the Border Patrol Chief of the Tucson area, the city and seat of Pima County in the state of Arizona, the Cuban was transporting three illegal foreigners from Vietnam and India in his car.

"Cuban on parole becomes a smuggler. However, transporting three illegal foreigners from Vietnam and India will only lead him to end up handcuffed," wrote the agent.

In his message, he suggested that the four individuals would be deported to their countries of origin.

"Now the four can think about what they did on their flight back home. The driver is facing charges of smuggling and the foreigners will be expelled," he said.

This is not the only case of migrant detention that has recently come to light, in a context where deportations and arrests of undocumented individuals have intensified since Donald Trump assumed the presidency.

A month ago, another two Cubans had been arrested in Miami, accused of operating a network for smuggling Chinese migrants into the United States.

According to the Chief Agent of the U.S. Border Patrol in the Miami Sector, Jeffrey Dinise, officers under his command and others from the police in Coral Gables responded to an incident of maritime smuggling, arresting two Cuban smugglers and 26 illegal immigrants from China.

Previously, in a joint operation involving several security agencies in South Florida, 28 people were arrested, including migrants from China (21), Cuba (3), Ecuador (1), and Brazil (1), as part of an investigation into a possible case of smuggling or human trafficking.

Four of the detainees, three of whom are Cuban, are under investigation as alleged organizers of the network.

Raids against migrants and the persecution of individuals involved in human trafficking to the U.S. have resulted in several detained Cubans facing prison sentences or even deportation.

Miami authorities had warned in a statement that "there is no place for human trafficking."

"We must directly tackle illegal immigration, using our experienced state and local agencies," they expressed.
