Sandro Castro's reaction to the death of Paulito FG

Sandro Castro momentarily stepped away from his constant partying and socializing on social media to send a message of condolences to the family of the singer Paulo FG, who passed away this weekend in a tragic traffic accident in Havana.

"My people, from the heart, the news today was very sad and unexpected… about the great artist, the great musician, talented, just like Paulo FG did for our Cuban music, for our salsa, for our culture, for our country," he said in a video shared on Instagram, the rebellious grandson, visibly serious and without mentioning the word "death."

"May his talent, his great work, remain unforgettable, and may his music endure for generations to come. May God hold you in Glory, just as He does El Taiger, just as He does Dany, and many great artists from this country," concluded Fidel Castro's grandson, after sending a message of support to the family and followers of the deceased artist.

Sandro concluded his video with the inscription in one corner of the image: “Paublo fg”, a misspelling of the name of the deceased singer that many have found unusual.

And even when he gets serious -which is almost never- the most controversial of the Castros manages to avoid a flood of reactions on social media.

Although a few users appreciated his words, the majority received them with skepticism, mockery, and biting criticism.

"Do you talk like this or do you not make a video without getting high?"; "Why do I get the impression that you are always in a tremendous frenzy?”; "Who could have written that which you are reading?"; “This grotesque spectacle doesn't stop”, were some comments.

"First sober video in a long time"; "My God, it's the first time I've seen him speaking something coherent," noted two other internet users compassionately.

There were those who took the discussion beyond the video, recalling tragedies that have occurred in Cuba and questioning the media attention given to the death of Paulo FG.

"The death of Paulo FG is not more important than that of political prisoners, those who died in the Saratoga explosion, or the victims of the dictatorship," declared an internet user.

Other comments were even harsher, referencing his family and the legacy of Castroism: "The question is why God took Paulo FG and not you and your entire family?"

There were also users who tried to present a more moderate perspective, pointing out the constant scrutiny that the controversial young man is under.

"I read the comments and I don't understand how this kid endures so much hate"; "If he goes out being funny, he gets criticized, and if he offers condolences, he gets it too. He can never win," commented a couple of internet users, but they were in the minority compared to the wave of criticism.
