ICE will increase operations against illegal immigrants in the U.S.

Tom Homan announces an increase in operations against undocumented immigrants in the U.S., criticizing Biden's administration. ICE reports a rise in arrests and announces strict measures to encourage self-deportation.

Tom Homan, known as the "border czar," announced an increase in operations to apprehend undocumented immigrants in the United States.

Homan emphasized that these raids will be conducted without regard to criminal records, targeting all individuals who are in the country without legal status.

Pressure on Congress and increase in resources

In his recent statements, Homan urged the United States Congress to approve a larger budget to strengthen immigration operations on the streets, expand detention centers, and fund more deportation flights.

He also criticized the stance of some legislators regarding illegal immigration, pointing out that many remained silent on the issue during the administration of Joe Biden.

In a message posted on X, Homan defended the tough immigration policies advocated by Donald Trump and claimed that during the Biden administration, more than 500,000 minors were separated from their families and placed into the hands of criminal networks.

"They were unable to track nearly 300,000 cases. Many of these children are safe, but many are now victims of forced labor and sex trafficking. ICE has already found some in forced labor. The previous administration neither located nor rescued them, but we will. What the Biden administration did was far worse than anything any previous administration has done," he said.

Recent statistics from ICE

This Tuesday, ICE shared a message on X where they provided some recent statistical data. They noted that arrests of illegal immigrants increased by 627% last month.

They recalled that the Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, ended the policy that allowed foreigners to travel illegally across the United States without identification and announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will enforce the Foreigners Registration Act.

Additionally, they report that border crossings reached "the lowest levels in 15 years," with only 200 interceptions in a day and 8,326 immigrants detained at the southern border in February.

Campaign to Force Self-Deportation

Last week, Noem announced a campaign to strengthen the enforcement of immigration laws and promote the self-deportation of illegal immigrants. She noted that the Trump administration will use all available legal tools to ensure the departure of foreigners without legal status from the country.

They will strictly enforce the provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which include penalties for those who do not voluntarily leave the country, fail to register with the federal government, do not provide their fingerprints, and do not inform immigration authorities of changes of address. Noncompliance with these regulations could result in severe fines, prison sentences, or both.

Frequently Asked Questions about Mass Deportations in the U.S. under Trump

What changes has ICE announced regarding operations against illegal immigrants in the U.S.?

ICE has announced an increase in operations to detain undocumented immigrants, covering all individuals without legal status, regardless of criminal background. This increase is accompanied by a campaign to promote self-deportation and compliance with immigration laws.

How do the authorities justify the increase in deportations and raids?

Authorities, especially Tom Homan and Kristi Noem, justify the increase in deportations as a necessary measure to ensure national and public safety. They argue that previous immigration policies allowed for abuse of the system and highlight the importance of adhering to existing laws.

What effect does the deportation policy have on migrant families and minors?

Mass deportation policies have raised concerns about the potential separation of families and the impact on minors, especially those who have been separated from their families and are left in vulnerable situations. The Trump administration has been criticized for failing to anticipate effective mechanisms for family reunification in the past.

What additional measures is the Trump administration implementing to strengthen deportations?

The Trump administration is requesting a larger budget from Congress to expand detention centers and fund more deportation flights. Additionally, it has eliminated the humanitarian parole program and implemented expedited deportations, granting ICE more power to swiftly deport individuals without a lengthy judicial process.
