The U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, held a telephone conversation this Saturday with Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Andrii Sibiha, during which he emphasized that President Donald Trump “is committed to ending the war as soon as possible”.

According to Diario de las Américas, Rubio emphasized that all parties involved must take steps to ensure sustainable peace in the region, which is Trump's objective.

According to the spokesperson for the State Department, Tammy Bruce, the message was clear and strong, emphasizing the importance of acting swiftly and effectively to achieve a definitive solution to the conflict.

Rubio, who will lead the discussions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will also meet there with the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, with the aim of discussing shared interests in the region and strengthening the relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia.

This meeting is part of a series of negotiations involving high-level representatives from the United States and Ukraine, including U.S. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, who will participate in the discussions in Jeddah.

The envoy Witkoff remarked that "the idea is to create a framework for a peace agreement and also an initial ceasefire," an initiative that follows previous meetings between U.S. and Russian officials in Riyadh three weeks ago.

In parallel, Ukrainian diplomacy remains active. The President of Ukraine, Volodímir Zelenski, has a visit scheduled for Monday to the Gulf Kingdom to meet with the Saudi crown prince.

Subsequently, a Ukrainian delegation led by Zelensky's chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, and also consisting of Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and military commander Pavlo Palisa, will remain in Saudi Arabia to continue the discussions.

Through the president himself, Ukraine declared a few days ago “completely committed” to constructive dialogue and hopes to progress in the peace agreement and the implementation of the necessary measures to end the conflict.

In a message posted on X, Zelensky reaffirmed that “Ukraine has sought peace from the very first second of this war. Realistic proposals are on the table. The secret is to act swiftly and effectively.”

This series of actions and meetings emphasizes the ongoing diplomatic effort to achieve a lasting solution to the conflict, supported by the initiative of key figures within the international political sphere.
