Damir Ortiz, the Cuban boy who was transferred to the United States in critical condition for specialized medical treatment, continues to show favorable progress at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami.

According to her mother, Eliannis Ramírez, to the activist Diasniurka Salcedo Verdecia, the doctors have identified and treated a new bacteria in her body, while her lungs continue to show signs of improvement.

He stated that he was even surprised to see her in the morning dancing with her shoulders to the tune of the cartoon song on the television in her hospital room, according to a post on Facebook by Salcedo Verdecia.

His mother, laughing, asked him if he was dancing, to which he enthusiastically nodded, the activist recounted.

Damir's story has been marked by a tough battle to gain access to the medical care he needed.

Thanks to the efforts of activists like Diasniurka Salcedo, Aylín Díaz, and Dr. Miguel Ángel Ruano, the child was successfully transferred from a hospital in Havana, where his health was deteriorating without an adequate solution, to Miami in an air ambulance.

The family and the team that supported them had to overcome bureaucratic and financial barriers to manage the humanitarian visa for Damir and his mother, as well as the necessary permits for their evacuation.

His condition was so serious that a commercial flight was out of the question, making it essential to hire a medical assistance-equipped aircraft.

Diasniurka Salcedo has held the Cuban regime responsible for the seriousness of Damir's situation, claiming that the authorities delayed his departure from the country, endangering his life.

"If they had been allowed to travel earlier, their health condition would not have been so critical. The Cuban government allowed a child to suffer before agreeing to their transfer," the activist stated.
