According to NBC Miami, the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a call at 1:17 p.m. regarding a fire in the 40800 block of Card Sound Road.
Immediately, both directions of Card Sound Road and US 1 were closed, both northbound and southbound, to facilitate the work of ground and aerial teams in containing the fire.
The fire has consumed approximately 2,000 acres and is currently 20% contained. No injuries or threats to nearby structures have been reported. Authorities are working together with the Florida Forest Service to manage the situation.
