The Cuban regime's corporation, CIMEX, enthusiastically promoted the new mode of transportation it is selling: Diana brand combustion motorcycles, assembled in Cuba by the state-owned company CAISA, which is also responsible for the production line of small buses.

The price is well beyond the reach of most Cubans and is higher than that of imported motorcycles. The brand Diana sells for 2840 dollars.

"We are excited to announce our new collaboration! From now on, in the Cimex.SA Motor Transport Division, we will offer the impressive combustion motorcycles from EPO CAISA," the corporation highlighted on Facebook."

In its publication, the regime's company referred to the "benefits" of the motorcycle, which features "a classic design" and "exceptional performance."

According to their specifications, this model GN-125 is highly "sought after" and will be available starting next week at Calle 20 between 1ra and 3ra, in the Playa municipality, Havana.

Both on CIMEX's social media and on CAISA's, dozens of users voiced harsh criticism regarding the price of that model, with some pointing out that it seemed more like an import rather than a local production.

"Regarding those motorcycles, what exactly did you produce since you claim to be manufacturers? That seems more like an international import hoarding than actual production," an internet user pointed out.

Others noted that the import and assembly of motorcycles raised the sale price, impacting the population, which does not have the resources to buy the motorcycle: "By entrusting their goods to a third party for sale and not having their own store, it drives up the final product price, and as always happens, the people get the short end of the stick... But I suppose that doesn't really matter to anyone".

The main complaints were regarding the price. Several forum members agreed that the Diana motorcycles were sold at a higher price or at the same price as other imported bikes, such as the Haojiang, which CIMEX offers for 2700 USD.

"A product assembled in Cuba that costs much more than all the options that can be imported from abroad with similar models. That's hard to understand," someone said, and another replied: "The blockade is internal. And it's something that isn't even acknowledged."

The promotion of the Dianas occurs two weeks after the General Customs of the Republic of Cuba began the clearance of imported internal combustion motorcycles through Aerovaradero S.A., allowing for the purchase of these vehicles at lower prices in other countries and bringing them in as unaccompanied luggage or shipments.

Cuban authorities indicate that these measures aim to "facilitate greater access to transportation for society and raise funds for the development of public transportation and road infrastructure."

A motorcycle or internal combustion scooter with an engine up to 250 cc has a customs value of 850 USD, while a motorcycle with an included sidecar is valued at 950 USD. An electric or hybrid tricycle with a capacity for more than two passengers or cargo costs 550 USD.
