"On Vía Blanca, right at the top of the hill by the dog cemetery, it appears that a man crossing the street was struck by a machine and died instantly," reported a witness.

A third user commented on social media that it was a “an elderly gentleman who lived in Alamar but had his farm down the hill. The impact was very harsh.”

It was also revealed that the victim may have been caught off guard by the poor visibility in the area, as some neighbors noted that the location remains dark at that hour and that vehicles do not always dim their high beams.

Some speculated that, judging by the visible damage to the car, the impact was substantial, which could be attributed to the driver's excessive speed.

However, several internet users called for not making hasty judgments, as sometimes the cause of fatal accidents is the responsibility of pedestrians and not drivers.

As of the closure of this report, there are no other confirmed details about the tragic traffic incident.

Since the beginning of 2025, there has been a growing list of deaths from vehicle accidents reported in Cuba.

In one of the most recent cases, a tragic traffic accident that occurred on the afternoon of last Friday in Santa Fe, in the Playa municipality of Havana, resulted in the death of a mother and injuries to her underage daughter after they were struck by a minibus known as "gacelas."
