Arrested in Guanabacoa after dropping a loaded gun in front of the Cupet

A man was arrested early Saturday morning in Guanabacoa after a pistol with six rounds fell from him in the middle of the street, in front of a Cupet.

A citizen identified as Juan Miguel was arrested early this Saturday in the Havana municipality of Guanabacoa after a black handgun loaded with six bullets fell from him in the middle of the street.

The incident occurred, according to the post from the official profile "La Diosa" on Facebook, when the individual was “fueling at the Cupet at the SHER roundabout.”

The publication details that one of those present witnessed the incident and immediately notified the police.

"It was taken to the station. I hope you know that it is not authorized to be on the tracks with that type of weapon and that you will be held accountable before Justice for the crime committed," concluded the message shared by the regime-affiliated page.

Recently, the Cuban regime implemented a new legal framework through Decree 11, which establishing stricter controls on hunting and sporting weapons.

According to the regulations, only those properly authorized by the Ministry of the Interior may carry weapons, and stricter penalties are introduced for misuse, including the possibility of permanent confiscation of firearms, which also affects state institutions.

On the same day, an incident in Matanzas highlighted the growing tension surrounding firearm possession. A man was detained while attempting to enter the urban center with a shotgun without declaring the weapon during a vehicle search. The authorities discovered the firearm inside the car and proceeded with an immediate arrest, in compliance with the regulations reinforced by the recent decree.

A week later, a child lost an eye after an accidental shooting at a shooting range in Cuba. The incident raised alarm among activists and social media users, who questioned the lack of safety measures at facilities where firearms training is conducted.
