The former Cuban athlete Eloína Calixta Echeverría Torriente, notable in the disciplines of long jump and triple jump, recently passed away, according to sources close to the sport on the Island. So far, the causes of her death have not been revealed.
The official medium JIT highlighted that Eloína was a national champion for 15 consecutive years, a record holder on the Island for seven seasons in long jump, and a multi-medalist in the Pan American and Central American and Caribbean Games.
"Eloína was an exemplary champion," highlighted on the social media platform Facebook by the Nicaraguan Athletics Federation (FNA), where she was currently working.
