Javier Benjamín Lominchar Soto, a baby only 16 months old, is hospitalized at the Medicmel clinic in the city of Santa Cruz, in Bolivia, after being severely injured in a traffic accident.
The little boy, son of a Cuban father and a Bolivian mother, has multiple fractures in his skull and has undergone high-risk surgical procedures.
The parents of the minor are in need of financial support to cover medical expenses, according to on Facebook by Raquel Espinoza.
For several days now, the minor has been in the intensive care unit, with part of the skull exposed, in a clinical situation described as extremely delicate.
“my son Javier Benjamin has been hospitalized in a clinic for a week due to a traffic accident and has been in Intensive Care since then. Thank God, by His blessing and mercy, my child is alive. He suffered multiple fractures in his little head. He has been progressing favorably, which is part of the miracle of surviving the accident, the surgery, and these days that have truly been a calvary,” wrote the child's father, the Cuban Javier Hernández Lominchar, in a heartfelt Facebook post.
"I thank God for allowing every second of my child's life until now, with faith and complete trust that His plan goes beyond this moment," she added.
The father also expressed gratitude for the work of the doctors and the support received from many compassionate people. “Some of them we inconvenience daily,” he acknowledged.
From April 6th, family and friends organized a solidarity lunch to raise funds to cover the baby's medical expenses. Patasca, a traditional Bolivian dish, was served.
On April 7th, Raquel Espinoza reported on the progress of the child's health and expressed gratitude for the support received.
"Today we continue to give thanks to God. Against all odds, God is still working in the health of Javier Benjamín Lominchar Soto. With everyone's help, especially the group assisting Cubans in Bolivia, whose administrator, Karel Ginarte, has actively supported this campaign, we have reached 10,000 bolivianos. Glory to God!" she stated.
Espinoza also mentioned that the child's mother, Dahilenis Soto Peña, confirmed signs of improvement.
"Yesterday the probes were removed, he drank milk, and the bones in his skull are frozen in preparation for a second operation," he explained.
However, he insisted that more economic and spiritual support is still needed.
