A video shows the moment of the arrest of a Cuban repressor in Miami

The arrest took place last Friday, although ICE did not make it public until this Monday.

A video is circulating on social media showing the exact moment when the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in collaboration with the FBI and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP), arrested a Cuban repressor who concealed his ties to the regime upon entering the country.

In the images -captured by a witness from an upper floor- nearly a dozen agents can be seen approaching Daniel Morejón García, 57 years old, wearing a green sweater at the time of the arrest.

It is also noted that one of the officers searches the pockets of the detained individual while he is already handcuffed.

In other very brief images -published by Cubans around the world- the exact moment can be seen when the agents got out of a car armed and proceeded to arrest Morejón García.

A post on X by the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) unit in Miami this Monday revealed that Morejón García was arrested last Friday at his home in Miami "following an investigation conducted by Homeland Security Investigations of ICE."

“The investigation focused on fraudulent statements allegedly made upon entering the country. Morejón García did not disclose his affiliation with the Communist Party of Cuba”, the publication stated.

A statement released by ICE specified that “during the investigation, law enforcement agents obtained official documents from the Cuban government and information from reliable sources indicating that Morejón García had not disclosed his affiliations.”

"The entity added, 'He allegedly omitted being a member of the Communist Party of Cuba and an agent of the Ministry of the Interior of Cuba in his immigration applications.'"

According to the press release, Morejón García also served as president of the National Defense Council in the province of Artemisa and was a member of the Rapid Response Brigades.

“The authorities claim that Morejón García was activated by the Cuban government during the protests across the island on July 11, 2021. In that role, there was evidence that Morejón García assaulted protesters as part of his duties”, concluded the official source.

Regarding his role as a repressor during the protests of July 11 in Artemisa, in recent hours, exiled activist Diasniurka Salcedo shared a video showing the moment the repressor assaulted a July 11 protester in the street.

Daniel Morejón appears on the list of repressors

The Cuban Daniel Morejón García is listed online as a repressor for crimes against humanity. He faces accusations of beatings and physical abuse, as well as advising and participating in repressive actions.

“Daniel Morejón García is accused, as seen in a video of the events, of getting off his motorcycle and assaulting Armando Martínez Luis on July 11, 2021, in Las Cañas, Artemisa, for calling for freedom on the streets. After responding to the aggression in defense of Martínez Luis, who was sentenced to 8 years in prison, Rolando González Arévalo and Richael Cantún Morales were also arrested that day and later sentenced to 6 and 7 years in prison, respectively,” describes his online profile.

The three detainees went to trial on October 19, 2021, and are serving their sentence in the Guanajay prison.

The online profile of the repressor states that the complainant indicated that Morejón García, who was the director of the feed factory in Las Cañas, a member of the Communist Party of Cuba, and a collaborator or officer of State Security, was living in the house of his daughter Dhayma Morejón in Miami.

Another whistleblower from Morejón in Artemisa claimed that he is an agent of State Security who was armed, and that "he was a manager at Almacenes Universales, a branch of the military business group GAESA that determines which Cubans can work or not with foreign companies based in the Mariel Special Development Zone."

Morejón García remains in ICE custody while awaiting his deportation from the United States.

ICE urges the public to report any information regarding alleged human rights violators traveling to or entering the U.S. by calling their tip line at 866-DHS-2423 (866-347-2434) or by completing the online reporting form. Individuals can make calls anonymously.
