Several houses caught fire this Friday in Santiago de Cuba after flames spread from the yard of one of the affected properties.

According to reported by Aris Arias Batalla, head of Operations and Relief in Santiago de Cuba, the fire started in the backyard of a home on San Basilio and Padre Pico, and quickly spread to another backyard at a residence in Santa Lucía, between Padre Pico and Callejón Santiago, #103.

According to the explanation provided, the fire in a trash storage area in the yard of the first house was fueled by the wind and spread to the kitchen of the house and to the second floor of another residence.

The second property affected, in Santa Lucía, sustained a "considerable impact" in the kitchen area. The gas cylinder and other accessories were also burned. The first house that caught fire only suffered minor damage.

So far, no fatalities or injuries have been reported from the incident.

" The quick action of neighbors prevented greater harm upon the arrival of specialized forces from the Fire Department. The column of smoke could be seen from our location here at the Feria del Tívoli, where neighbors came to inform us," Arias specified.

The images shared in Arias's post reveal the extent of the damage. The kitchen utensils are completely unusable.

At the end of March, a devastating fire completely consumed a home in the center of Santiago de Cuba, on Calle Moncada between Maceo and San Mateo, where its residents lost all their belongings.

It is believed that the incident may have been caused by a short circuit, although the exact origin is unknown.

The house was uninhabited at that moment since its owners, including the musician Damián Busqueta Mineto Tmt, were at another residence.

Although there were no fatalities, the fire destroyed items of great sentimental and professional value to the artist, such as his piano, musical instruments, scores, and other writings related to his career.
