The political prisoner and demonstrator from July 11 (11J), Carlos Michael Morales Rodríguez, reported via social media that Juan Alberto de la Nuez Ramírez, a Cuban opponent residing in the municipality of Aguada de Pasajeros, was recently stabbed and, despite the severity of the attack, his assailants were released by the police.
According to Morales Rodríguez, who shared the report on his Facebook profile, De la Nuez Ramírez identified his attackers and notified the authorities, but the state’s response has been silence and impunity.

"The individuals who assaulted him and nearly took his life were released by the police and roam the streets of Aguada de Pasajeros with complete impunity," the activist noted.
The situation becomes even more concerning after the revelation that the file containing the statements related to the case has “disappeared”, according to the opposition lawyer herself.
Morales Rodríguez interpreted this event as a clear sign of the State Security's involvement in the attempted assassination, which highlights the systematic use of repression and impunity as tools of political control in Cuba.
"Down with #repression and #StateTerrorism," concluded the message shared by the activist, accompanied by a call to denounce and highlight the ongoing violations of human rights faced by dissidents on the island.
The assault on De la Nuez Ramírez occurred on Saturday, April 5, and was carried out by five individuals armed with machetes, knives, and sticks, leaving him with multiple serious injuries, including fractures in his arms and legs, and at least ten stab wounds in various parts of his body
According to testimonies shared on social media by his brother, Bárbaro de la Nuez, and the activist Morales Rodríguez himself, the fifth assailant remains at large.
