The National Center for Seismological Research (CENAIS) confirmed minutes ago, through an official bulletin and posts by its director Enrique Diego Arango Arias on social media, the occurrence of a perceptible earthquake in the eastern region of Cuba.

The seismic event was recorded by the network of stations of the National Seismological Service at 11:51 a.m. (local time), with a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale. It was located at coordinates 19.78° north latitude and -75.37° west longitude, at a depth of 23 kilometers and 29 km southwest of Caimanera, in the municipality of Niceto Pérez, Guantánamo province.

According to the technical report, there have been reports of earthquake visibility in Santiago de Cuba, as well as in localities such as San Luis, Songo-La Maya, and several towns in the province. It was also felt in Caimanera and Niceto Pérez, in Guantánamo.
