Another Cuban shot dead by a compatriot in the US: The killer is still at large

The victim is a young man living in Houston, married and the father of two girls, who was shot in the chest in broad daylight on a street in that Texas city.

The Cuban community in the United States is once again shaken by a violent crime among fellow countrymen.

This time, the victim was Christopher Bles Venerio, a young resident of Houston.

The alleged murderer, identified as Frank Alberto Suárez Valdés, also of Cuban origin, is currently on the run from justice.

The crime, partially captured on video and shared on social media, shows two men arguing from a distance. Within seconds, one of them collapses to the ground while the other runs away from the scene.

The images, although blurry, have been enough to point to Suárez Valdés as the responsible party.

Christopher Bles, originally from Havana, was married and had two minor daughters. The news of his death has sparked a wave of grief and calls for justice.

Greetcheen Valdés, a close friend, posted a message on Facebook in which she demands justice and offers a reward for anyone who provides information about the fugitive's whereabouts.

"This killer is being sought under sky or land, alive or dead. A reward is offered to anyone who provides information about their whereabouts. No one has the right to take another's life... so there will be no rest until justice is served," he wrote.

The alleged murderer, Frank Alberto Suárez Valdés, is from the municipality of San Miguel del Padrón, Havana. Apparently, he had conflicts with the victim, although the reasons for the altercation that ended in tragedy are still unknown.

While the police continue their active search for Suárez Valdés, family and friends of Bles Venerio have launched a campaign on the GoFundMe platform with the aim of raising funds for funeral expenses.

"We are trying to raise the necessary funds to cover the funeral expenses and give a dignified farewell, as they deserve. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be greatly helpful and deeply appreciated," the text states.

The case is under investigation, and the authorities are asking for the public's assistance in locating the alleged murderer.

The Cuban community in Houston and other parts of the country is closely following the case, hoping for justice in the death of another young person who, like many, sought a better life in American lands.

The tragedy adds to another case that occurred in the same city just days earlier, when another Cuban was shot and killed by a fellow countryman.

Ediesky Piñeiro, 34 years old, the father of two young girls and newly arrived in the United States, died last Sunday after being shot directly in the chest when he opened the door of his home in southwest Houston.

The attacker, identified as Andrés Fernández de la Paz, 36 years old, was captured on video walking towards the entrance of the house, taking a gun from his clothing, and shooting without saying a word.

The crime occurred around 4:40 PM. Surveillance footage shows how, after the first shot, the attacker attempts to re-enter the house to continue the assault, but after failing to open the door, he flees in a purple Maserati.

Piñeiro's wife and their two daughters were inside the home.

Houston authorities confirmed the arrest of Fernández de la Paz the following day. The Police Department indicated that the homicide could be linked to personal conflicts, as the suspect was allegedly in a relationship with a relative of the deceased.

These two crimes, which occurred just days apart and were both perpetrated by Cubans in Houston, have raised alarms in the migrant community.

The rising violence among individuals who arrived seeking a fresh start is a concern for both residents and community organizations, which are demanding increased support, mental health attention, and social integration programs for newcomers.

Meanwhile, the community demands justice for the victims and safety for their families.
