The Cuban infielder César Prieto had a historic day this Saturday by hitting five singles in a single game for the first time in his career in the Minor Leagues of baseball in the United States.
Prieto, who is part of the Memphis Redbirds team, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, hit the bat and raised his batting average to .312 so far this season.
In 29 games played, the native of Cienfuegos has also accumulated an OPS of .850 and only 16 strikeouts, figures that reflect his great discipline at the plate and offensive consistency, according to journalist Francys Romero on Facebook.
The performance of Prieto keeps him as one of the strongest Cuban prospects within the baseball system, and his projection for a possible rise to Major League Baseball continues to gain momentum.
It is worth noting that although he looked good in spring training, the player from Cienfuegos was reassigned to the Minor Leagues camp of the St. Louis Cardinals, so he still dreams of debuting with the main team.
