Banco Metropolitano announced that this Sunday, May 18, the services at the ATMs will be "limited" due to alleged "technological changes."
The news was reported on the social media of the banking entity of the regime, where they did not specify what type of changes were involved.
"The Metropolitan Bank S.A. informs customers that on Sunday, May 18, 2025, due to technological changes, services at ATMs will be limited. For any questions or concerns, we suggest contacting the official profile of the institution on social media platforms such as Telegram, WhatsApp (@BanmetCuba), Facebook (@BanmetCubaOficial), or through the Telebanca call center at 7858-3535 and 7866-0606," it was written.

Hundreds of internet users wondered what was new about the news, given that most of the time the ATMs are not functioning.
"What's the news, if they are always limited if they don't have money and others are broken? What are they talking about?" questioned a Cuban.
Another person added, "Really? Is that just on Sunday? They must be stopping; it has to be fake news because ATMs are always limited."
Most agreed that they are always "limited" and can never withdraw money.
The shortage of cash in ATMs has been causing long lines at banks in Cuba for months.
In December, a tour by CiberCuba through Havana reported on the frustration of users after spending hours in line with no guarantee of receiving the desired amount, during critical times when people need cash for their year-end purchases.
Díaz-Canel has blamed the private sector for the lack of cash in the country, claiming that private companies create a cash extraction effect in Cuban banks. According to him, state entities are not responsible for the shortage; rather, private activities exacerbate the issue.
