A light in the sky with unusual movement surprises neighbors in Havana

A bright light with erratic movements was spotted in the Havana sky this Sunday. The images, recorded by a witness, have sparked surprise and speculation among residents of the capital.

A mysterious light in the sky, with fast and unusual movements, was spotted on Sunday night over Havana, according to reports sent to the editorial office of CiberCuba by a witness who managed to capture the phenomenon on video.

The images, recorded between 8:45 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., show a bright point moving in various directions—side to side, up and down—exhibiting an erratic speed and pattern that has bewildered those who observed it.

"Yesterday I saw something very strange in the night sky. It looked like a star, but it was moving very quickly side to side and up and down. It wasn't a drone because it was at too high an altitude and it lasted for more than three hours. It didn't seem like a satellite either... It had a chaotic movement that I had never seen before," recounted the citizen who shared the videos with our editorial team.

According to their assessment, the path of visible light extended toward the area of San Antonio de las Vegas, Melena del Sur, and even in the direction of the Ciénaga de Zapata.

So far, there are no official reports from the Institute of Meteorology of Cuba or aviation authorities that explain the observed phenomenon.

The images, however, have started circulating among local residents, generating various theories ranging from satellites in low orbit to unusual atmospheric phenomena.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Sighting of the Mysterious Light in Havana

What was the mysterious light spotted in the sky over Havana?

The mysterious light observed in Havana may be related to the passage of satellites or atmospheric phenomena. The visibility of satellites like Starlink depends on the time of day, the observer's location, and atmospheric conditions. These satellites are more visible after sunset or before sunrise, when the sun still illuminates their solar panels, reflecting light towards the Earth. Additionally, factors such as altitude and orbital trajectory play a crucial role in their observation.
