New details about the accident in Matanzas where six people were injured

The driver of the car that lost control this Saturday on the National Highway sustained serious head injuries.

According to a report from the local station Radio Unión Matanzas, the five passengers "do not show any damages that could endanger their lives at this time."

"It was a family trip of people from Havana heading to the Zapata Swamp," the report specifies.

The names of the injured and their relationship have not been disclosed.

The crashed vehicle lost control on a section at the border between Unión de Reyes and Nueva Paz, in Matanzas, presumably due to a technical failure.

According to the report from the local official press, three of the injured are receiving treatment at the Octavio de la Concepción polyclinic in the municipality of Alacranes, while medical care is being organized for the rest of those affected.

On Friday, a tragic traffic accident also occurred on the National Highway of Cuba, at kilometer 277, in the province of Villa Clara, resulting in a preliminary toll of four fatalities and three individuals critically injured.

One of the injured later died, bringing the total number of victims to 5.

The accident involved two cars: a Peugeot 405 with license plate P 122 449 and a Geely MK with license plate P 202 650.

The images shared on Facebook depicted a devastating scene, with at least one of the vehicles, the Peugeot, completely destroyed.

According to the information, the three critically injured individuals were urgently transferred to the Arnaldo Milián Castro Provincial Hospital, where they are receiving specialized medical care. Their prognosis remains guarded.
