The Cuban influencer Amanda Camaraza couldn't take it anymore and shared one of her most Caribbean truths: in the yuma, there is no trust even to ask a neighbor for a piece of fruit.

In a video posted on her social media, Amanda revealed the drama that has been haunting her in recent days. Her neighbor, whom she does not know and whose name she does not know, has a papaya tree in his yard. And she, a devoted lover of papaya juice, gazes at the tree as if it were a siren in the desert.

“This is one of the things I hate about the yuma. My neighbor, whom I don't know of course, has a papaya tree,” he is heard saying in a video on Instagram while pointing to the tree that keeps him awake at night.

"The papaya juice is my favorite juice in the world. If I were in Cuba, I would have already asked for a piece of papaya to make myself some juice, because here the papaya is not good, the one from the markets doesn't taste right, it tastes awful," he claims.

"Here, no one gets along with any neighbors. I find that to be a great coldness, a lack of warmth,” she said with her characteristic boldness. And she is not wrong: in Cuba, a neighbor will lend you a pot, salt, sugar, watch over your child, and even save you some bread. In the U.S., if you talk to your neighbor, they might just ignore you.

Amanda ended her outburst with a quote worth framing: “I don’t know what that crazy gringo’s name is so he can give me a piece of papaya.” And so, amid her craziness, she made it clear that she misses the warmth of human connection in Cuba, even though the papaya juice also hurts.
