The Cuban actor Alejandro Cuervo cleared up doubts about his immediate future, finally clarifying whether he will stay in the United States, following his recent trip where he faced questions from the Cuban exile community in Miami, or if he will return to Cuba.

From Miami International Airport, before flying to New York, Cuervo answered questions from journalist Javier Díaz of Univisión, including whether he will remain on U.S. soil.

Despite the rumors and speculation, Cuervo asserted that he has no intention of emigrating to the United States at the moment and that he will return to Cuba in the coming days.

Regarding the conditions of his entry into the country, he explained: “A tourist visa like any other. I presented myself like many artists, many people. We know the unfortunate migratory situation that exists, the restrictions placed on Cubans, but I presented myself as just another tourist, with all my records, with many countries where I have traveled,” the actor explained.

"I am an artist who has done nothing in my life but work for my family, because I love my work," he said.

Cuervo acknowledged that the situation on the island is critical. “Cuba is in a terrible moment, it’s no secret to anyone: economic, social, political problems. I am an artist, I am an actor, I would never try to make a decision that could go against me and my family and have direct repercussions. I simply work, I work well, I work hard, with the businesses I have managed, which have been little by little,” he added.

About the criticisms he has received from sectors of the Cuban exile, the actor stated: “No one in Cuba tells me what I have to say. I know perfectly well what I have, what I can say, and what I shouldn’t say; I understand that because I know the circumstances, where I live, and how my country operates. However, I arrive in the United States and I am met with a slogan: say it or you are my enemy,” he commented.
