A Cuban identified as the holder of the immigration form I-220A reported through a TikTok video on a raid by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at a Walmart in the United States, where he claims to have witnessed the arrest of several individuals.

"I just came out of Walmart and suddenly a large group of ICE agents entered... it was terrifying," the visibly shaken man recounts, while showing the scene from his vehicle in the store's parking lot.

"My wife has parole, I am I-220A. They said 'focus on the line' and they pushed their way inside. It was packed with people," says the Cuban.

The video, posted on his account @orlycastillo1401, features the testimony of this Cuban, who does not hide his fear and frustration about what has happened.

"My God, I never thought I would see this in the United States. Gentlemen, please be very careful when you go out; only go out when absolutely necessary," he recommends.

The raid, according to testimony, allegedly took place inside the supermarket while dozens of people were shopping. ICE reportedly entered the establishment with the aim of detaining migrants in an irregular situation, amid a growing atmosphere of fear within migrant communities.

"We come from a dictatorship, from a country that subjects us to a thousand atrocities to reach the United States and go through these situations," lamented the man, urging the Cuban community to stay vigilant. "Have faith, my people, a lot of strength. God's timing is perfect," he added.

The testimony has raised concerns on social media, particularly among Cuban migrants who are in the process of regularization under various legal options such as humanitarian parole or the I-220A, a document that indicates supervised release while they continue their immigration process.

Frequently Asked Questions about ICE Raids and the I-220A Form for Cuban Migrants

What is the I-220A form and what does it mean for Cuban migrants in the U.S.?

The I-220A form is a document for supervised release that allows migrants to be temporarily at liberty while awaiting a resolution in their immigration cases. It does not represent legal entry nor does it grant immigration benefits, resulting in a precarious legal situation for thousands of people, mostly Cubans.

How do ICE raids affect Cubans with I-220A?

ICE raids, such as the one that took place at Walmart, create a climate of fear among Cuban migrants. ICE aims to apprehend migrants in irregular situations, which may include those with an I-220A, who are on parole but do not have a defined legal status. This heightens anxiety and the risk of detention for these migrants.

What recommendations can be followed to avoid problems with ICE?

Migrants are advised to leave only when necessary and to stay informed about their rights. Additionally, it is recommended to attend appointments with ICE accompanied by an attorney if possible, and to keep up to date with any changes in immigration policy that may affect them.

What role do social networks play for migrants with I-220A?

Social media, like TikTok, has become a key space where migrants share experiences, seek information, and receive support. Testimonials about appointments with ICE and raids help other migrants to emotionally prepare and better understand the immigration process.
