At 9:00 a.m. (local Cuban time) this Monday, the U.S. dollar is valued at 385 CUP, which is one peso less than the previous day, according to the monitoring conducted by the independent media elTOQUE.
The dollar thus recovers the peso it lost last Friday, when it dropped from 385 to 384.
In recent weeks, the U.S. dollar has experienced a slow but steady increase in the Cuban informal market.
Exchange Rate Evolution
The dollar started June at 370 CUP. From there, in a calm process - peso by peso and with few intermediate setbacks - it climbed to 385 CUP, a price reached on July 1st, after a sudden increase of three units.
Meanwhile, the US dollar is experiencing its worst moment globally in over 50 years. Between January and June 2025, the currency has fallen by more than 10% against the major currencies of the world.
