"It's already the second time I've made you this proposal. Step into the ring and let's give the people the fight they want to see. What's the excuse now?" said The Cuban Assassin.

The Cuban professional boxer Gustavo Trujillo, known as "The Cuban Assassin", once again shook up social media by issuing a new and direct challenge to the veteran Yoel Romero.

In a video posted on his Facebook account, Trujillo publicly urged the "Soldier of God" to accept a face-to-face fight, suggesting that the wait has been long and that the time to confront each other is now.

"Yoel Romero, I stopped by to congratulate you because I heard you signed with bare-knuckle boxing. Great for your career. I also wanted to remind you that my invitation for a fight between you and me still stands," he said.

The Cuban champion of bare-knuckle boxing was emphatic in his message.

"I’m still here waiting for you to gather the courage and say my name, to bring my name into the conversation (...) Look for a big name in this sport. And if we’re going to talk about big names, you know mine is on the list," he stated.

Additionally, the fighter reiterated his desire to star in a major event in front of the Miami audience.

"The fans and the haters are mainly eager to see me lose, and what better opportunity than this: to hold a big event here in Miami to see how you beat me," he expressed ironically.

The message concluded with a straightforward phrase: "If you're up for it, we're here, there's no excuse."

The post was accompanied by a phrase written directly to Romero: "Little soldier Yoel Romero MMA. This is the second time I'm making you the proposal. Step into the ring and let’s give the people the battle they want to see. What’s the excuse now?"

A challenge with history

This is not the first time that Trujillo has publicly challenged Romero.

In January of this year, the undefeated boxer issued his first challenge to the veteran fighter, amid the growing anticipation of seeing two Cuban figures face off in an unprecedented duel.

"Yoel Romero, 'the little tin soldier'. You're still hiding, my friend. Are we going to fight, or are we not going to fight? All your fans are commenting and want to see that fight. Aren't you the most dangerous guy on the planet? The best in the UFC? The one who hits the hardest? What are we going to do? Come on, let's dance!" he expressed.

Trujillo, with a perfect record of 6-0 and all his victories by knockout in the first round, was crowned in December 2024 as the unified heavyweight champion in bare-knuckle boxing after defeating the British fighter Richie Leak in a match that established him as one of the most feared figures in the sport.

Romero, 48 years old, successfully debuted in the Dirty Boxing Championship just a few days prior, knocking out American Duane Crespo and demonstrating that his physical power remains intact, even after his time in the UFC.

Will the fight take place?

The duel between both representatives of Cuban sports not only captures attention for what it represents in sporting terms but also for its symbolic weight: two generations, two styles, and a shared history of success outside of Cuba.

However, the proposal has generated mixed opinions. While thousands of fans are looking forward to the match, some on social media have expressed that "Cuban versus Cuban" should not be a reason for conflict.

For now, the ball is in Yoel Romero's court.

With Trujillo publicly applying pressure and supporters from both sides demanding an answer, all that remains is a decision that could turn this challenge into one of the most talked-about fights of the year.
